One time in freshman year, Julian lay on the grass, letting the rain hit him.
Logan lay next to him and asked, “What are you doing?”
“I like rain.”
“…it’s cold.”
You don’t have to stay out here.”
And then Derek showed up and lay on the other side. “So what are we doing?”
“Rain.” Logan answered.
“Oh. …it’s cold.”
Julian winced. “Would you guys just go inside, I’m trying to enjoy this!”
The other two just laughed a little and stayed quiet. There was a long pause, where there was only the sound of rain drumming down on them.
“You’re really not going to leave, are you?” Julian finally asked, sighing.
“Nope.” Derek smiled.
“And there’s no way I can make you leave?”
“You can try, but I’m not leaving here,” Logan replied, closing his eyes.
“And if /I/ leave instead?”
Logan snorted again. “You? You’re not going to leave. You couldn’t if you tried.”
Derek smiled to himself as Julian rolled his eyes.
The rain poured on.
